Step One

Complete and submit our volunteer doula application form if you are interested in becoming a Project Teenbirth (PTB) Volunteer Doula. We will review your application and contact you within 48 hours.

Step Two

Attend a PTB volunteer doula in-person or virtual orientation. During the orientation you will learn the following:

  • History of Project Teenbirth, our mission and vision.

  • What is expected of you in your role as a PTB volunteer doula.

  • The PTB volunteer doula process regarding documentation, forms and communication.

  • Overview of birth support, with emphasis on common PTB scenarios and clients served.


Specific PTB volunteer doula responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

DUTIES

  • Specific functions include: supporting families throughout all perinatal stages in line with PTB expectations; may include long hours, evenings and or weekends.

  • Attend local meetings with Chapter Lead Doula

  • Support PTB through participation in community outreach.

  • Must be able to travel within your local county and targeted areas.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Agree to and sign our PTB Scope of Practice and Volunteer Doula Agreement.

  • Agree to having a Level ll background check.

  • Must be able to commit to one year of volunteer doula service with the option to renew in one yr increments.

  • Must have attended at least five (5) births in the role as the primary doula.

  • Must have attended a doula training with proof of attendance via a certificate of completion. Doula certification a plus.

  • Must be professional, self-directed, able to follow-through on projects and prompt responsiveness to internal and external board members and clients.

  • Good interpersonal skills, team-oriented, and enjoys working with others.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read and write clearly in English. Bi-lingual | Spanish-speaking a PLUS.

  • Experience in various Microsoft and Google software.

  • Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, bend, reach, and manipulate objects; infrequently move | pick-up materials up to 20 pounds.

  • Must be sensitive to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population that Project Teenbirth serves.
