May is Sex Ed For All Month: Youth Power, Information, and Rights!

Join us for our second annual PTB #CommunityLove Run!

Our mission at Project Teenbirth is not only to support pregnant and parenting teens through pregnancy and birth, but to make sure teens are getting evidence-based education regarding reproductive health. Project Teenbirth understands the importance of providing adolescents with sex education and arming them with the proper tools and knowledge so that they are capable of making informed decisions regarding their reproductive health choices, relationship boundaries, and using their voice to maintain bodily-autonomy. Less than 40% of high schools and only 14% of middle schools across the U.S. meet the CDC guidelines for sex education.(1) In Florida alone, there were 9,829 number of teen births in 2018. That’s 16.7 births per 1K girls between the ages of 15-19. (2) Even with the pregnancy rate for Florida decreasing by -8% from 2017, our state is still failing our youth by the lack of sex ed and reproductive health classes provided to them within the public and private school educational systems.

Providing adolescents within our community with all inclusive sex education, taught without stigma and shame, could help to reduce the rate of teen pregnancy. Through #CommunityLove for our youth and your support, we can do our part in filling that educational gap. Join us for our annual PTB #CommunityLove Run! One hundred percent of the proceeds raised will benefit Project Teenbirth Inc.'s work in the Tampa Bay and surrounding areas. Monies will be used for the purchase of educational tools and resources needed to educate our pregnant and parenting teens through in-person childbirth preparation classes and teen-parenting workshops. Registration is now open— be sure to visit our PTB #CommunityLove Run event page and follow our Facebook page for event details!
